A team led by Anselme Dossou, a Ph.D. student in the Nicholas School of the Environment, won first place in the Urban and Anthropogenic Soils Division poster competition last November at , an annual event hosted by the American Society of Agronomy, the Crop Science Society of America and the Soil Science Society of America.
The poster described research investigating potential soil contamination from historic city-waste incinerators at more than 200 sites across the U.S. and Canada. Dan Richter, the Theodore S. Coile Distinguished Professor of Soils and Forest Ecology at the Nicholas School, and Duke librarian Carson Holloway mentored the student team, which also included Ph.D. student Corbin Hite, Leon Kelly, T’27, Patricia Kwiatek, MEM’26, Sophie Lair, T’25, Ph.D. student Sierra Smith, Ph.D. student Aliyah Webster, and students from Panther Creek High School in Cary and William G. Enloe High School in Raleigh.
