Tyler oversees floodplain restoration programs and policy development across the seven states of American River's Southeast Region. He is a Certified Floodplain Manager with years of built environment and public land conservation experience, previously serving as the Executive Director of the Park Institute of America.
Tyler holds graduate degrees in economics and business administration as well as his MEM from the Nicholas School where his research explored the application of equity frameworks on green infrastructure projects located in gentrifying communities. He worked in the private sector for almost a decade equipping and training explosive hazard remediation teams. Prior to his civilian career, Tyler served for six years as a U.S. Army officer in various leadership and teaching positions.
